How to write a great AI coding prompt
AI assistants write better code when they know exactly what you want. A vague request such as "make a login form" returns generic output, while a precise one returns something you can use. The prompt builder above structures your request the way experienced developers do.
- State the role and the task. Tell the assistant what kind of engineer to act as and whether you want new code, a fix, a refactor or an explanation.
- Give concrete details. Mention features, inputs, outputs, frameworks and versions. Fifteen or more words of context makes a clear difference.
- Set constraints. Limits such as "no external libraries" or "must support Safari" prevent solutions you cannot use.
- Paste your code when debugging or refactoring, and include the exact error message if there is one.
- Ask for a format. Request one complete code block plus a short explanation, so the answer is easy to copy and check.
Always read and test generated code before using it in production, especially anything that touches user data, payments or security.
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about the prompt builder and snippet library.
What does this tool do?
It has two parts. The prompt builder turns your coding task into a well-structured prompt for any AI assistant, and the snippet library gives you ready-to-use starter code in HTML, JavaScript, Python and SQL.
Does this tool generate code with AI?
No. It does not run an AI model itself. It helps you write stronger prompts and lets you open them in ChatGPT or Claude, and its snippets are hand-written, general-purpose starting points.
Is my code and data private?
Yes. Everything you type stays in your browser and is never uploaded to our servers. If you choose Open in ChatGPT or Open in Claude, your prompt is sent to that service under its own privacy policy.
What makes a good coding prompt?
A clear goal, the language or framework, specific requirements, any constraints, your existing code when relevant, and the output format you want. The strength meter checks these and suggests what to add.
Can I use the snippets in commercial projects?
Yes, they are free to use in personal and commercial work. They are starting points, so review, adapt and test them before using them in production.
Which languages are supported?
The prompt builder supports HTML and CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Python, SQL, Java, C#, PHP and Go. The snippet library currently covers HTML and CSS, JavaScript, Python and SQL.
Is it free?
Yes. All features are free, with no account, email address or usage limit.
DioxAI Pro is an educational tool. Always review and test code before using it in production.
